Coverly is an online store I designed to offer users a way to protect their phones in style. The project focuses on combining functionality with fashionable designs, providing a user-friendly platform where customers can easily find and personalize phone cases that reflect their individual style. By establishing a strong brand identity and understanding the target market, I aimed to create an engaging shopping experience that encourages users to express their personal style through customizable products.
In a saturated market of phone accessories, many online stores offer generic phone cases that lack uniqueness and personalization. Customers often struggle to find phone cases that not only protect their devices but also align with their personal style. There is a gap in the market for an online platform where people can easily find and customize stylish phone cases to express themselves while protecting their phones.
The main objectives of Coverly are:
Coverly's target audience is fashion-conscious and tech-savvy, with a focus on personalization and convenience.
I analyzed the market, surveyed potential users, and studied competitors to understand customer needs and preferences for stylish, customizable phone cases.
Utilizing research insights, I developed branding elements, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes to create an intuitive and visually appealing website.
I built an interactive prototype in Figma, focusing on user experience and showcasing key features like customization tools and responsive design.
I reviewed the prototype for usability and aesthetics, making refinements to ensure the final design met the project's objectives and resonated with the target audience.
To address the identified problem and meet the project objectives, I developed a comprehensive plan for the Coverly website:
In the research phase, I conducted a market analysis by studying existing online phone case retailers to identify strengths and weaknesses in their offerings and user experiences. Studying competitors helped me understand market trends, pricing strategies, and the customization options they offered. I also created detailed personas of typical customers to guide my design decisions. I conducted surveys with people in our target audience to learn about their preferences, problems they face, and features they wanted. The main things I found were that people really want to personalize their phone cases, they value websites that are smooth and easy to use, they are attracted to appealing designs, and they want quality and protection without giving up on style.
The design process began with brand identity development, where I created a logo, selected a color palette, and defined typography that reflects a modern, stylish brand appealing to the target audience. Wireframes were developed to outline the website's structure, navigation flow, and placement of key elements, ensuring an intuitive user experience. High-fidelity mockups were created in Figma, incorporating branding elements, visual appeal, and usability. An interactive prototype was developed to demonstrate the user journey from browsing products to checking out. Key design decisions included a clean, minimalist aesthetic to highlight products and simplify navigation, and using typography and color contrasts to guide users' attention to important elements.
One of the main limitations I faced during the project was the time limit. Working on my own, I had to finish the project within a short period. This meant I had to manage my time carefully and focus on the most important parts of the project. Because of the limited time, I couldn't develop some features, like the interactive design lab for customization, in this version. I concentrated on building a solid foundation for the website and plan to add more features in the future.
During the project, I faced some challenges. A big challenge was creating a clear brand identity for Coverly. At first, I wasn't sure which direction to take with the branding. I spent extra time exploring different styles, colors, and visual elements to find the right look that would appeal to the target audience. This process was important to make a unique and attractive brand but took additional effort.
Another challenge was wanting to develop a design lab feature where users could customize their phone cases on the website. Due to the constraints, I wasn't able to build this feature in the current version of the project. However, I plan to add the design lab in the future to give customers more personalization options.
I designed Coverly, an easy-to-use online store where customers can protect their phones in style. By building a strong brand identity, understanding the target audience, and planning for future customization options, the website offers stylish and personalized phone cases. This project improved my skills in UX/UI design, branding, and user research, showing my ability to take a project from concept to completion.
